Remarks: Commissioned by Muziekcentrum Frits Philips Eindhoven, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the grand organ in the main hall. Premiere: 31-8-2002 by Leo van Doeselaar and Brabants Orkest. The late American conductor Jose Riojas added arrangements for both symphony orchestra and this version for saxophone orchestra. Scoring for 5 percussionists with alternative versions for 3 and 1 player resp.

The title ‘Sining City’ originates from a speech by Ronald Reagan in 1984, calling his country ‘ A Shining City on a Hill’. The soundtrack is based on speeches by Rev.Jesse Jackson, Gov. Mario Cuomo and TV evangelist Donnie Swaggart.
