composition
Concerto per pianoforte e orchestra : 1964 / Kees van Baaren
Description:
Program note (English): Première: 20-11-1964 - Scheveningen - Theo Bruins with the Residentie Orkest, Willem van Otterloo, conducting) - This concert is in one movement with the understanding that eight sections ensue without interruption. Concepts on the proportion of piano - orchestra which deviates somewhat from the typical, has strongly influenced the structure. According to these conceptions the two concert elements - the piano and the orchestra have an autonomous and equal value. As a consequence the score does not contain passages in which one element is secondary to another, therefore for example, as introductory or accompanying or binding functions. Moreover the structure of the piano part relies frequently on other continuity principles than that of the orchestral part. - KEES VAN BAAREN
