Dans van de malic matrijzen : = (Dance of the malic moulds), for wind instruments and piano, (1976-1978) / Guus Janssen
Description:
Program note (English): This work can be considered as consisting of two parts. The theme of the first part is the form typical of the traditional piano concerto where the star role is played by the pianist. An example of the treatment of this subject is the grand introduction which is repeated twice, but then with the sustained chords in the piano and the orchestra playing the virtuoso solo part, and the last time which this part played by a muddle-headed soloist. In the following bars the pianist's only task is to underline the articulation of the wind section, of which task he cannot really disentangle himself anymore. The second part of the piece consists of fast dance movements, each of which is explored separately. - GUUS JANSSEN
