composition
Walk : for piano, 1985 / Theo Loevendie
Description:
Program note (English): Walk is the continuation of Strides, composed nine years earlier. Even the title is related. In both pieces the composer used elements from jazz music, such as a basso ostinato and the so called walking bass. Although Walk is the lighter one of both compositons. Walk is written in the technique of melodic curves, also in the rhythm and harmony.
The title suggests a lonely walker in nature, but the music evokes a walk in a bustling city, complete with traffic sounds, delay and panic. - THEO LOEVENDIE
