Description:
The Secondo Libro de Madrigali del Fiore contains 11 madrigals for 5 voices, one for 6, and one for 7 voices. This last one is the first chapter of a monumental poem (Il Triunfo d’ Amore) by Francesco Petrarca , who is the author for all the other poems - mostly sonnets - in this book. De Wert left out the middle part of this poem. Even so, it is nearly 14 minutes long, and mostly homophonic. It breathes a lulling and hypnotizing atmosphere, unlike all the other madrigals in this album. A fascinating piece of music indeed.
