Description:
Program note (English): This piece may be called serial in so far as use is made of rows for pitch (12 tone row), duration and rhythm. Although there is a large degree of dynamic differentiation, this element is completely free. There are consequently no rows for dynamics or timbre (in this case methods of touch). In the first movement, the second half is the rhythmic retrograde form of the first half. In the last movement, the 'Vivo' is a strict canon in contrary motion, with an increasing density in rhythmic movement. - JAN VAN VLIJMEN
