Wie nooit schiet, mist altijd ... : The body-machine, for 3 guitars, 1997 / Chiel Meijering
Description:
Program note (English): (If you never shoot, you always miss... The body-machine) The composer, like a mole, turns history upside down and puts it in a new order that pleases him more than the old one. The saying "What you see is not what it is", applies for this music as well: what you hear is not what you think you hear. It is amusing to see how 'Hallelujah Bananas' (a popular American song), based on Haendel, matches with Wagner, Chopin, Beethoven or whatever the listener may hear in this quiz. Moreover, the Balkan passes by as a shadow of Bartok. The subtitle refers to the first movement, a sort of mechanical mini-ballet, which bounces over the melody like chewing gum. - CHIEL MEIJERING
