Program note (English): The string trio has five parts that merge into one another almost without any interruption. Parts 1, 3 and 5 are thematically related. The third part has an outspoken scherzo-like character, whereas parts 2 and 4 have a contrasting recitative-like/arioso character. The fifth part refers back to the first part. The composition as a whole has the character of a divertimento, intensified by the use of musical material from the comical opera Duradiridatumtarides. - JOCHEM SLOTHOUWER & ANNETTE DE KLERK
