Program note (English): Together with 'Prometrum' for saxophone quartet and orchestra, 'Stadium' was composed as a preliminary study for 'Metrum' (1984; rev. 1986), also for saxophone quartet and orchestra.
In this short piece, studies are made on forms of complementary rhythm, different kinds of octave doubling, and syntheses of diatonical and chromatic harmonies. The first, fast movement is followed without interruption by a shorter, slow movement. - DIDERIK WAGENAAR
