Kann, Peter (Composer)
Description:
Program note (English): Song is the result of a request by Jan Willem Nelleke for a song for himself and mezzo soprano Karin van der Poel. I wrote it rather quickly and got it done just in time for a friend's birthday. It is thus dedicated to Ester Been for reasons best kept to myself, and because it made a nice birthday present. The first line of the poem was used by Edward Elgar as a motto for his second symphony. - PETER KANN
