Description:
Program note (English): The harp or fire, a song cycle on text by the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, consists of five songs with each their own character and which are linked through the use of cyclic forms. 1. The harp or fire : polycyclical, this means: each voice has a certain cycle differing in length from the other voices. Finally they all end up simultaneously in a cadenza. - 2. His road : rhythmically cyclical, this means: the song has been written in tintal-tala (rhythmic cycle of 16 counts). - 3. Song of the boat : rhythmically cyclical, this means: the song has been written in rupaktal-tala (rhythmic cycle of 7 counts). - 4. Fancy : polycyclical with polytempi (the same principle as in song 1; please refer). - 5. The harp : rhythmically cyclical, this means: the song has been written in tala of 15 counts. - JAN ROKUS OF ROOSENDAEL
