Description:
Program note (English): I have tried to find an adequate musical form for this ecstatic joyful anthem by Fransciscus bestowing the greatest expression strength to the singing voice; as a result, it seemed to me best to keep the direct and unaffected tone of the poem. The string orchestra and the harp largely stipulate the harmonic basis. Only in the middle section (Lento) - there where the poem relates on people - is the string orchestra important. The harp part is not obligatory, yet this royal instrument is mainly added for its brilliance to the string orchestra. The Dutch translation of the old-Italian text (beginning 13e centuries) is a clarification of the contents on this work. - ROBERT HEPPENER
