Tessituur : voor orkest, 1990 / Diderik Wagenaar
Description:
Program note (English): (Première: 15-12-1990 - Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam - Radio Kamerorkest o.l.v. Ed Spanjaard) - Tessituur is the range of the solo voice or the span of music instrument. The title of this orchestra work refers to the vocal character in the oboes and the brass melody. This ever present, slow melody, harmonised by the string instruments is discoloured or is covered events in other instrument groups, existing from remaining woodwinds, piano, vibraphone and celesta. A polyphonic thickness develops which is followed after short homophonic climax via the main musical subject: the melody, but now without counterparts. - DIDERIK WAGENAAR
