Description:
Program note (English): 'Ripostes' (1912), from which these poems are extracted, is the beginning of Pound's association with Imagism. This poetry attempts to present one dominant image or a quick succession of related images; an instantaneous effect; an emotion compressed into a physical image revealed in a moment; a presentation of an inner concept in a style free of formal constraints. The music for these songs approaches atonality, but is not demonstrably serial.
