Music for a strange wedding
Description:
Program note (English): In captivity Naima and her fellow prisoners perform a wedding ritual that opens with a majestic overture-rhythm. An elegant minuet begins, but is then repressed by the majestic rhythm from the beginning; obviously the participants cannot agree in spite of the looming threat. Then the saxophone player in the group takes control, but he, too is unable to avert the chaos threatening to arise. Nonetheless the saxophone introduces the waltz rhythm and is thereafter, following some hesitation, adopted in a boisterous fashion by everyone in the final apotheosis. - THEO LOEVENDIE
