Ritmische studies : voor kamerorkest, opus 58 / Géza Frid
Contains:
Allegro con brio
Allegretto
Tempo giusto
Andante moderato
Presto corrente
Deciso
Molto allegro
Description:
Program note (English): The Ritmische Studies are the result of a government assignment, the idea being to produce a number of short compositions emphasizing the rhythmic element. For this reason many unusual measures (for example 7/4 and 5/8) occur in these seven short sketches, in addition to polymetrical combinations and syncopic mutations.
As far as the melodic element is concerned this composition has been kept plain, and each section is based on a different melodic idea, except that in the finale all the thematic material of the preceding sections is recapitulated kaleidoscopically. - GÉZA FRID
