Remarks: After Maurice’s death, melodies would occasionally surface in my mind as part of my mourning process. This piece grew from one of those unexpected musical fragments. It is closely tied to a memory of a walk I once took with Maurice and his dog along the river, where he showed me the place where French Impressionists had painted 100 years earlier. It was a peaceful late-Sunday afternoon, filled with autumn colours and the gentle rustling of leaves. The scene was vibrant, golden foliage shimmering in the trees and light shifting softly across the water. In that moment, I understood why painters had long chosen this particular place for inspiration. Entre les Feuilles captures the warmth, vibrance, and effortless lightness of spirit. It is also very reflective in nature, using a single melody pattern that repeats over time either on the oboe or piano.
