Remarks: Also written for English horn and piano, this piece evokes dawn, new beginnings, and the almost magical dance of early-morning light while mist still lingers in the air. Its light, airy structure communicates the sense of a new cycle unfolding. Its tied to a memory, when I was going from Pontoise to Paris by a very early train. There were not many people, a very quiet train ride. At one moment the train turned left, a flock of birds flew over the train, while the sun rise was cutting through the morning mist. A very magical moment. A soft beginning full of clarity and possibility.
