Description:
Knaldrang is a reflection on house and techno music and aims to recreate the rhythmic vividness of club culture, translating loosely to 'the urge to party'. While it consists of rhythmically complex structures, its material is inspired by the "against the beat" rhythmical idiom of house music, which is then treated in a Stravinskian manner. The original material stems from an earlier version of the piece, commissioned by the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, which was part of their educative programme from 2024 till 2026. This material was later altertered and expanded, resulting in the current version of Knaldrang.
