Description:
When I composed Stardust, I was in the middle of the composition process for Paradiddle, a new work for choir and orchestra, so I was inspired by certain layers in that score and decided to recycle this for Stardust. The music is cheerful, the title refers to a statement by the Roman philosopher Lucretius: ‘Celesti sumus omnes semini oriundi’: ‘Everything comes from the seed of the stars’r like the old hippie band Crosby Stills & Nash was singing: ‘We are stardust’.
The piece was recorded by the quartet along with 24 other short pieces for string quartet and can be enjoyed on Youtube.
