Description:
From the world premiere presentation at the Festival European Polyphony (Greece):
A tribute to the life and work of Georgia's leading composer and one of the most distinguished in the Soviet Union, but also in the world, in the late 20th century. In this particular work I try to combine the calm and the beauty that I receive through the music of Giya, with the latent violence, which occasionally explodes with a catastrophic expressive effect. Something that occupied him, but also that
is reflected in his works. An emotion I felt when his death was announced. As his colleague Rodion Shchedrin said, he described him as "an ascetic with the temperament of a maximalist - a restrained Vesuvius". The main musical idea of the project is based on the encryption of the name of G-I-Y-A and develops between harmony and Aeolian Missa.
