(Composer)
Description:
Lamentation deeply expresses my personal feelings towards those who have been affected by the recent war between Gaza and Israel, the global economic crisis, natural disasters and the recent erupted pandemic disease. The harmonic language of the piece is mainly diatonic and the harmonic materials are actually drawn from the diatonic and slow section of my recent orchestral work “Apocalypse.”
In the piece, numerous diatonic elements are employed and most often they are juxtaposed and blended with chromatic intervals. The piece begins with rather slow and calm introductory materials at the piano part and the melodious cello part enters as soon as the piano part has finished its introduction. In the central section the climax is erupted by means of unfolding the imitations between both instruments and also various modal scales are employed in this section. The music fades out at the end of the piece.
