Social Distance? : for piano / Rieteke Hölscher
Description:
In the bizarre surreality of the quarantine measures in 2020 due to the infectious disease COVID19, our human life (temporarily?) seems like a bad dream. This inspired me to create a few solo pieces for piano. After all, the current measures make it impossible to play together without too many obstacles.
I have always been an opponent of – forced by circumstances – increasingly 'living' online. Now that is the case more than ever, it sometimes feels like a blessing. It is now our only chance for something similar to human contact. But I believe that human contact is indispensable for a happy and balanced mental life, which is why I (also in the titles) question these dreary form of life that is likely to become the new reality in our society in the near future (?).
