Description:
In opdracht van de Bossche Beiaard Stichting schreef ik deze korte beiaardcompositie. De titel is ontleend aan én geïnspireerd door het volkslied ‘Wat zalmen op den Avond doen’, blokfluitvariaties uit Jacob Van Eycks Der Fluijten Lusthof. Daarnaast citeerde ik nog verschillende oud-Nederlandse volksliederen. Wat zalmen op den Avond doen is een hommage aan de musicus-componist Jacob Van Eyck (Heusden ca 1590- Utrecht 1657).
