Serie per sei strumenti : 1960 / Jan v. Vlijmen
Description:
Program note (English): In 'Serie per sei strumenti' Jan van Vlijmen places special emphasis on pitch, duration and dynamics. In fact, he uses a 12 tone series consisting of 4 groups of three notes. There are two movements. The six instruments are treated as equals in the first movement, where the scoring is linear. On the other hand, the different instruments are treated as soloists in the second movement as well as being given opportunities for improvisation. Added instruments in this movement are piccolo, alto flute, cor anglais and bass clarinet. - JAN VAN VLIJMEN
