Description:
In 1994 I wrote a work for piano that was based on one of the forty rudiments of the Percussive Arts Society. Rudiments in music are small percussion patterns that can be put together to form rhythmic phrases. The name of the rudiment I used was 'Paradiddle'. Throughout the years many Piano Paradiddles followed. The style has developed and broadened.
This book is a first selection from a very large number of pieces. It contains four suites of four parts each. They are not, as you will understand, all composed in the same period.
Except for a single indication, I have refrained from writing pedal signs. The title of the book refers to the rapidly changing characters and atmospheres of the various pieces of this album.
