composition
Narcissus : for string quartet / Olga Victorova
Description:
Narcissus was written on April 17, 2009 — on one of the quietest days, when everything tails away as if there had never been any wind, any sunshine, any riot of clouds. The quartet consists of a series of musical phrases arranged in the score like spots and highlights on the surface of a forest lake, which, merging and shifting every second, create an eternal picture of life. The main idea of this music is that of a world immersed in itself. Peace and contemplation in it is accompanied by unexpected flashes of clarity and beauty.
