Ostinato Étude : for piano / Nimrod Borenstein
Description:
The Ostinato Étude was premiered by Irina Lankova at the Salle Gaveau (Paris) on the 26th of March 2014. The Ostinato Étude has many facets and challenges. It is a tremendously energetic piece with both lyrical and harsh moments and includes some of the new complex rhythms I have developed in my recent music. I have used descriptive words in the score to give an idea of the mood of the music: "majestic and noble", "menacing", "nasty and cold", "menacing and breathless", "grandiose", "light", "dreamlike". Maybe it is not so surprising that the last indication of the Étude reads "courageous"...!
