Piano Concerto Nº 1 : for piano and youth orchestra / Rieteke Hölscher
Description:
I wrote this concert especially for youth orchestra, as a ‘pass-through’ of new music for the next generation.
About the titles: ‘Fingerprints’ is meant as a musical fingerprint: we leave fingerprints everywhere in our lives – mostly unconsciously. By playing, the musicians also leave their (virtual) fingerprints in time.
Many things are invisible in life: wind, smells, thoughts, but also silence and music. ‘Invisible’ was written shortly after the disaster with the MH17 as a tribute to the many young people who lost their lives.
‘Next’ refers to the current trend of mobile and social media: a rising number of people only seems to be concerned with ‘fast’ needs, always looking for the next level, contact, message and so on.
