Flauto dolce? : for blockflute solo, percussion and string quintet / Roderik de Man
Description:
Flauto dolce? is a compact concerto for recorders and ensemble. Although there are three movements, it is concieved as being in one part. The question mark in the title refers to to the diverse character of the solo part. Being not only “dolce” but also “acerbo”, at times even aggressive. The piece endeavours to challenge all involved in a challenging musical discourse, alternating between virtuoso, lyrical
and pronounced rhythmical passages.
Flauto dolce? is dedicated to Jorge Isaac, a remarkable advocate of contemporary repertoire for all recorders, or “blockflutes” as they are called today.
