Description:
Because of his creative musical ability Wolf-Leonard Simonis saw it as a challenge trying to compose his own (forte)piano concerto in this style.
An experiment changed in to an obsession and finally resulting in the ‘Concerto 1800’ for Forte-piano and Chamber Orchestra. Following the experimental style of the Mannheim School the usual horns in the orchestra here are replaced by two Clarinets. Also a Bassoon is added to support the winds and the basses but not negating the own character of this wind instruments.
For a long time the concerto was incomplete but meeting the young talented French pianist Stéphanie Elbaz it lead to new inspiration and so the peace could quickly be finished with a still missing finale Rondo. Therefore also the concerto was dedicated to Stéphanie.
