Desert Garden : for piano, 2005, opus 31 / Marijn Simons
Description:
Program note (English): I have been three times in Los Angeles for concerts and during those visits I found out that through Los Angeles is a very ugly and boring city it has some fantastic hotspots. My favourite hotspot is the Huntington Gardens. And my favourite section of the Huntington Gardens is the Desert Garden. This Desert Garden consists of I don't know how many acres of cactuses which makes you almost feel you're in another world. It is bizarre, but beautiful in a certain way. And it looks wild, but it is still a garden. And this other-wordly feeling and these contradictions are in this solo piano piece as well. - MARIJN SIMONS
