Program note (English): [Première: 28-2-2004 - Purcell Room, London - Mondriaan Kwartet] - Stringtones begins with a very long 'a' lasting ten minutes, played on various strings with various techniques. The monotone idea gives the piece a meditative character. In the last minutes it breaks open in a lively arpeggio movement to then again return to the 'a'. - TOEK NUMAN
