Decimo : for mixed choir , 2000 / Hanna Kulenty
Description:
Program note (English): Decimo is a composition for a six-voiced mixed choir. The piece was written for the opening of the Arnhem Choral Festival 2000, which took place in the Eusebiuskerk in Arnhem. It was performed by Capella Amsterdam under the direction of Daniel Reuss. The acoustic circumstances in the Eusebiuskerk (with a reverberation seven seconds) produced a 'slow' consonance space, in which chords slide along each other and in this way, depending on the dynamics, results in a thickness or thinness in the music. The title 'Decimo' refers to the ten beads and the coherent prayers of the rosary. As a text the Ave Maria has been used. - HANNA KULENTY
