Program note (English): The title refers to the plural of 'toccata', a virtuoso composition for keyboard instrument or organ. The word 'toccate', as used by the composer, also expresses an incitement (derived from the Latin word 'toccare' (to touch)): Touch the keys, play! The composition consists of three parts, of which the first (Maestoso, allegro inquieto) and the third (Allegro molto) correspond most to what generally the term Toccata is understood to mean. The middle part (Intermezzo, andante) has a much milder character and consists mainly of one long melody. - JOCHEM SLOTHOUWER & ANNETTE DE KLERK
