Description:
Program note (English): A short cantata, based on a poem by Christine de Pisan (1364-ca. 1430), who is regarded by many as the first protagonist of women's emancipation. The four stanzas used in this composition contain the essence of the long poem by De Pisan: a prayer to Maria, in which the poetess appeals for special attention to the fate of women. In concordance with the text the music moves between serene and very passionate. - JOCHEM SLOTHOUWER & ANNETTE DE KLERK
