Greys is a tribute to the composer Francesco X.Geminiani (5 December 1687–17 September 1762), a fellow citizen of Lucca. It is an attempt to show the topicality of the beauty he generated with his music. To write my piece, I took the first movement of suite no. 9 in B flat Major (allegro assai) by Geminiani and I extrapolated the rhythmic structure of the violin, cello and double bass parts. I used
this rhythmic structure as the rhythmic structure of my piece, naturally modifying the pitches and arranging it according to Greys' instrumentation. The result was a new piece but "derived" from Geminiani's piece.
