Program note (English): The first movement is an Allegro in Sonata form, the second a Scherzo and the last movement a theme with variations. The thema\-tic material of all the movements is inter-related, and arises from the theme which is used for the finale. The Octet was performed in 1953 at the International Music Festi\-val of the ISCM in Oslo.
