Callin' Saigdi : for erhu and koto / Jakub Polaczyk
Description:
Callin’ Saigdi is a short piece written for Andy Lin and Yoko Reikano Kimura for the concert Classical & Avantgarde at the Merkin Hall. It is dedicated to Shining Sung, for her help in connecting so many artists in New York together and her support for high art. The title of the piece comes from the words for sirens in Japanese (Sai-ren) and Chinese (Jin-gdi) in English transliteration. It is a short dialogue for those two instruments, but as it is composed by a Polish composer, also has some Polish rhythms in the center.
