It was commissioned by Ken’s partner - and my long-time friend - Theo Kemperman, who selected the Whitman poems. The premiere was on Ken’s birthday, March 28 2012, by Mattijs van de Woerd (baritone) and Shuann Chai (piano) in the Bethaniënklooster, Amsterdam.
