Remarks: Composed for Wiek Hijmans. Commissioned by the Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst and the University of Leiden. Premiere: June 3rd 2005, during the festivities of the 85th Lustrum of the Leiden University. “Gothic” is part of a manifestation about the painter and art philosopher Humbert de Superville (1770-1849). The manifestation was directed by Paul Koek and the Veen Fabriek, and included other compositions as well as video, theater performances, and lectures about the work of Superville.
