Jitterbug Quartet : for string quartet / Wilma Pistorius
Description:
‘Jitterbug Quartet’ is inspired by one of the composer’s favourite novels, ‘Jitterbug Perfume’ by Tom Robbins; a story about perfume, immortality, and the meaning of life. The piece is about dignified wildness (as seen in the jitterbug, a swing dance from the early 20th century), about outrageous and uncompromising sweetness (as smelled in jasmine), and about beatific lightness (as felt by a feather drifting delicately on the wind).
