So It Goes : for English horn / Patrick van Deurzen
Description:
During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, whilst all live concerts were cancelled, I witnessed through social media the struggle of many great musicians now having to do without their daily routine, and forced to find a new point on the horizon in order to focus their continued training. For me too, the lockdown left me with the feeling that what I love doing most had suddenly became impossible, or no longer fitted the world as it had become. But of course that isn’t the case! Whether the virus is called Halve Zoolstra, or COVID-19, life goes on.
This is my second solo written during the pandemic. The first is When Lucas Sleeps for Horn solo. So it Goes is a much used phrase from Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse Five.
Thanks Dorine for putting a dot on the horizon together with me.
