Partita 'Wereldwijven' : for harpsichord / Kees Arntzen
Contains:
Diferencias 'Mar y Sol'
Tombeau ‘Mbira Melody Memorial’
Samba-psalm ‘The Chilliwack Chick’
Rondo-arabesque ‘Habibi cum figuris’
Description:
This new partita for solo harpsichord is a portrait of women who have been important to me from all over the world: my beloved Jo-anne Kobald, the industrious composer and conductor Marisol Gentile, my former class-mate Magda Wisch who died much too early and the Persian-German guitar player Negin Habibi. Each of the following four miniatures is based on the principle of soggetto cavato, in which the letters in a name are transmitted to notes in the same order, forming a guiding musical theme in that way.
