composition
Brother Fox : for symphony orchestra / Michael Fine
Description:
This short orchestral work was inspired by the writings of the great Scots author Alexander McCall Smith, whose novels, whether set in Botswana or Edinburgh, have been among my favorite reading for the past decade. 'Brother Fox' is my tribute to McCall Smith's one non-human character, Brother Fox, who lives in the yard of philosopher Isabel Dalhousie. McCall Smith is an amateur bassoonist, so of course, the bassoon states the opening theme.
