In 1996 I compiled a dozen short performance pieces for piano under the temporary title ANTOLOGIA PROVVISORIA. I dedicated this collection to piano pedagogue Maria Stroo of Groningen. On March 1st 1998, pianist Loes van Ras performed a selection of this compilation in a concert featuring my chamber music in the “kleine zaal” of the Oosterpoort in Groningen.
In the spring of 2002 I expanded this temporary compilation to the collection at hand. The incentive was a concert on the last day of an exhibition of wall objects, assemblies and graph by Jan de Boer, in the exhibition space of the “Kunstlievend Genootschap Pictura” in Groningen. While I was working on this second set in particular, I realized that I like to be guided by peculiarities of the material that I am working with, just like Jan de Boer. To find an unequivocal name for this eclectic collection was therefore not a difficult task. I decided to drop the sometimes laboriously found inscription for the previously written pieces and to no longer search for titles that
might not be relevant for the pieces that were yet to be composed.
At a concert in Pictura on May 25, 2002, Loes van Ras performed a selection of the completed collection.
