Nobody is Perfect ! (Frank Nuyts Fifty) : for 7 players / Luc Brewaeys
Description:
This work is the sixth in an ongoing series of short anniversary pieces for various instrumentations for friends composers. As the title indicates this score is dedicated to my friend Frank Nuyts on the occasion of his 50th birthday.
As usual in these works I refer to and/or quote some of the music of the dedicatee. In this case I did both. The work is extremely fast with cascades of notes at a breathtaking tempo -it very hard to perform- with some "spectralised" melodic fragments which are hidden quotations of Nuyts' work "The Abduction of the East". At the Golden Section of the piece I quote the beginning of that same piece. The overall impression of the piece refers to the beginning of "L'uomo dal fiore in bocca", my first opera I composed in 2006.
