Description:
In Family Songs it was my objective to move towards simplicity and away from my usually complex and maximalist style. The texts, in both Dutch – my mother tongue - and English, are all chosen and written to express the honesty of life, memory and expectations of parent- and childhood. As such, upon reading, they almost dictated the music in an intuitive and folk-music-like way.
