Description:
Program note (English): I based my new work on an Asian way of experiencing time. In some parts the audience participates for example by making breathing noises. I wanted to compose a work with a non-European attitude and do away with Western concert rituals. At the moment I think a lot about what the atmosphere in the concert hall is like when the audience participates. The Asiatic feeling for phrasing is also very different from ours. No lengthy build-up and development of material, but rather short statements separated by silence. It is living in the present, while listening to and experiencing every detail attentively. - NED MCGOWAN
