Description:
Program note (English): (Première: April 28, 2006 - Muziekcentrum Frits Philips, Eindhoven, Brabants Orchestra, Arie van Beek, conducting) - Running from silence describes the development of silence by means of a quiet sounding landscape to a violent and infuriating burst of energy. The emptiness and (almost) silence with which the piece opens is rapidly filled up with sounds which lead to a quiet, and ethereal music, transporting the listener along an imaginary landscape. Suddenly a regular pulse of sixteenth notes leads to an escape from this landscape at a given moment becomes more and more distant from the tranquillity with which the piece began...-- JOEY ROUKENS
